A Sense of Place
Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 April 2019
Mcb-a is holding two open days to celebrate the completion of the museum's stunning new building, designed by the Barcelona-based architects Barozzi Veiga. Visitors are warmly invited to engage with the new building's Sense of Place: come and lose themselves in the vast spaces, explore the exhibition rooms, venture into the corridors, enjoy the light-filled halls, study every detail and every material, and make the museum their own.
The weekend will feature several works and performances selected in order to resonate with the building that has sparked a rich dialogue with artists, works, museum staff, and the wider public, before the collections are even installed. The performance have been selected to showcase the building's physical attributes of volume, materiality, and acoustic design, as well as its sensory aspects. Visitors are invited to be present at the awakening of the museum before the collections are put in place.
