Jean Dubuffet.
The Mireille and James Lévy Bequest

 —

In 2019, MCBA received an exceptional donation, 34 works by Jean Dubuffet from the art collection of Mireille and James Lévy.

This group of works, some of which are on display in the galleries devoted to the collection, will be unveiled as a whole for this show. Mireille and James Lévy were passionate art lovers and collected throughout their lives, in particular the work of this French artist, whose talent and nonconformity fascinated them. The combined collection covers different periods of Dubuffet’s career, with paintings, sculptures, and drawings from such cycles and series as Portraits, Paris Circus, L’Hourloupe, Théâtres de mémoire, Sites aux figurines and Non-lieux.
