Our cultural outreach ambassadors

Bridging the generation gap with culture

MCBA and Pro Senectute Vaud host regular meetings, bringing together the over-sixties with young students aged 18-25. The group acts as ambassadors for each new exhibition, telling their friends and family about it. Our cultural outreach ambassadors encourage people who are not regular museum-goers to try out an exhibition in a fun, friendly group setting.

The group meets regularly throughout the year and members enjoy a number of benefits:

  • Exclusive access to MCBA exhibitions with private guided tours and member-only information packs free of charge
  • Regular meetings with the museum’s cultural outreach staff, curators, and artists

Developments

Between 2014 and 2018, thirty-five cultural outreach ambassadors brought over 3,900 visitors to the museum, a clear success for MCBA’s innovative pilot project.

MCBA and PSVD are delighted to renew the programme with further outreach groups based at the new museum. The concept is being taken up elsewhere, and MCBA will be happy to receive enquiries from interested parties at mcba@plateforme10.ch.
For example, a team of cultural outreach ambassadors has been set up at the Maison d’Ailleurs in Yverdon with help from MCBA (further details available here).

The microsillons collective of artists and cultural mediators has studied the project as part of its research programme. The report can be downloaded here.
